Every Next Level of Your Life Will Demand a Different You

Every Next Level of Your Life Will Demand a Different You | A Chronic Voice

“Every next level of your life will demand a different you.”

Who is ‘The Real You’ & What is the Next Level of Your Life?

We often believe that we must remain true to ourselves throughout life. But there is a crucial difference between being true, and being intractable. Sometimes we avoid certain activities or thoughts because we think, ‘nah, this isn’t me’. We have painted a personal identity for others, and also for ourselves. Who are we, without something to believe in? Does this cause us to be stuck to certain ways of being and thinking, which prevent us from reaching the ‘next level of your life’?

Yet the current version of us – in this time, in this place, and in this circumstance – is bound to need an upgrade. The world is ever changing, especially in this day and age. We have yet to reach the full potential of who we can become. In that sense, if we don’t experiment and work towards an improved build, then are we ‘truly ourselves’, or a mere fragment of it?

How This Quote Has Inspired My Perspective

I suppose that that’s what this quote means to me for now. You are ‘truly you’ in this very moment, because it is where all potentials have crystallised. Of all the things that could have been, it has reached this very specific point, and that is pretty amazing!

But from here on, the possibilities open up once again, and you have choices to make. If not of a physical capacity, then a mental one. So I urge you and me to pause and see how far we’ve come, ask of life what it demands from us, and then strive for it.

This is essential for you to become a better, stronger and kinder person. There is always room for self improvement not only in terms of knowledge, but also as a human being. Potential is endless, and every circumstance is a stepping stone towards the next level of your life.

  • A beautiful and inspiring posts. So many great visuals here too, Sheryl. You always impress me!

  • I didn’t even know I needed to think this and after reading this post I have realised I needed this. I’ll need to really think this one through.

    • Thanks Shruti! It’s an intriguing topic to me, too. Happy to discuss perspectives and ideas anytime! 🙂

  • I love my new desktop image w/quote that will inspire me each day! I chose the reflection image.

  • This is a beautiful and inspiring post! I am definitely at a new stage in my life and adjusting to this next stage has been a struggle! Thank you for sharing your thoughts!

    • I am sorry to hear about the struggles…I do hope you pull through okay, and I know you will do so with such grace. Sending lots of love and energy.

  • This is so true. We are constantly growing as we live and learn. Thanks for the beautiful wallpapers of such a great quote!

    • Thanks for reading and commenting, Samantha! Yes constant growth is vital in life, if we want to reach our full potential 🙂 Wishing you well!

  • People think their self-identity is solid through time but it isn’t… it isn’t designed to be. And that means we can change a lot of who we are which is a good thing I think.

    • Yes I totally agree, Nikki! I think it’s liberating to be able to change at any moment we want! And self-identity is a tricky thing, it can make you, but also trap you. I think the one lesson we learn as chronic illness folks who get stripped of it is finding that out, and who we really are and what matters. For healthy folk who are able to still tie themselves down to a forced or false sense of self-identity, they may never understand this.

  • I so agree…as we move forward let’s try to achieve the better version of ourselves. This is a great reminder for all of us. Thank you.

  • I’m glad to read this and that’s what I needed today. Great reflection to ourselves.

    • Thanks April, glad it was a useful read for you. Hope you’re keeping safe and that you and your family are doing well in these trying times xxx

  • I love that quote Sheryl – its so true. WE all live, learn, grow and evolve and our “you” changes along the way!

    • Thanks Lisa, I love it too! I suppose there is SO much freedom to change in life that we don’t allow ourselves to because of preconceived notions of who we are, where we come from, societal expectations, and so much more x

  • This is so true. we need to level up each time we face a new facet of our life.

    • Hi Jojo, yes indeed. We are human and continuously learning and evolving. Let’s grow into something that’s of real worth and value 🙂

  • I am so very much loving and appreciating this truthful post that speaks volumes to me. It is all so very true and love the pics too 😉

  • Such wise words, and so true. Love the images you’ve created 🙂

    • Thanks Alice! Haha they were made a long time ago, so maybe not the best looking or optimised for now :p :p

  • Nice! X

  • Lovely point and images!

  • I love this! I totally agree. I always struggled with the idea of “being true to myself” for this very reason. “Myself” is constantly evolving, and each stage starts before you even know it’s coming.

    • Yes, I think too often I try, and even believe, that I am a certain characteristic. But I also think I’m missing out on a lot of opportunities in life because I have already closed my mind to new possibilities. So this is just a little reminder to myself to stay open minded, be curious, and explore. We only life once, after all! 🙂
