The creators of the “Gritty Hope” course, Emily Hathway and Jami Taylor, are certified professional coaches with a passion for helping others to fulfil their potential in life. Emily has a Bachelors in Nursing, a Masters in Student Development Counselling & Administration, and received her coaching certificate through Lark’s Song. Jami holds a degree in Biblical Literature and Intercultural Studies.
Just like you and me, they too have faced huge losses in their lives, and have been in that dark place where everything seems hopeless. But they have also clung onto hope by the very tips of their fingernails, managed to survive, and continue to thrive. Emily and Jami would like to help you do the same in this course, where they will lead you through 90 days of gritty hope. The goal is to enable you to notice the brokenness, and move through the mess. You will then discover and learn new ways to be whole again.

What You Will Learn
You will work through six online workshops in the “Gritty Hope” course. Here’s a brief outline:
- On Grit & Self Care
An introductory workshop on acknowledging your pain. Discover what nourishes you as an individual. Learn how to implement that self-care plan for practical, everyday life.
- On Drought & Soaking Rain
An exploration of grief and hope using the drought and harvest metaphor, to help you understand the flow and seasons of life a little better.
- On Being & Doing
The third workshop explores the idea that you can experience contradictory emotions, or be in two different states at the same time. Learn how to find and maintain your balance. Life is after all, never black or white, either/or.
- On Uncaging & Letting Go
Being human, we tend to lock up the broken pieces of ourselves when we get hurt. This workshop will take you through the gentle process of releasing this vulnerability. Re-discover this hidden part of yourself again, in order to be whole. The pace and how this process occurs will be different for every individual.
- On Imagination & Possibility Thinking
As Albert Einstein once said, “Logic will get you from A to B. Imagination will take you everywhere”. Also, “To raise new questions, new possibilities, to regard old problems from a new angle, requires creative imagination and marks real advance in science”. Who’s to argue with such a wise man? 😉 You can use your imagination to either move forward, or to hold yourself back. In this fifth workshop, you will learn how to activate your imagination to generate positive change.
- On Rewilding & Resilience
In the final workshop, you will explore the possibilities that can happen when you show up in life as fully ‘you’. Resilience doesn’t always mean ‘a return to previous strengths’, but also ‘a creation of new ways to be and to do, that brings about wholeness’. Learn to acknowledge the beauty that can only be found within yourself, as you move forward on your personal journey in life.
How the Workshops Will be Conducted
Each workshop will begin with a live webinar and will include readings, videos, and activities, as well as resources for further learning.
Registration is open through August 18th, and the course starts on August 20th 2018. You can get a 15% discount by paying in full, and there is also a sale going on for a limited period of time!
