2019 January Linkup Party for People with Chronic Illnesses

January 2019 Linkup Party for People with Chronic Illnesses | A Chronic Voice

I can almost hear the collective sighs and exclamations all around the world; 2018 has ended, and 2019 has arrived. “It’s a brand new year”, we say to ourselves once more. If we put those numbers on the calendar and our watches aside, what do you think has really changed in our lives? Change is patient, and a sneaky little thing to boot. As someone with chronic illnesses, I often feel like I’m stuck in glue, moving forward at a snail’s slimy pace, if at all.

Here are January’s writing prompts for your perusal. I’m really looking forward to hearing each and every one of your perspectives. Let’s go!

What It’s All About

It is a monthly get together for anyone with chronic illnesses. An opportunity to share, to listen, and to learn from one another. I also think it’s a great way to provide insight into life with chronic pain, from many different points of view. All you have to do is write a short excerpt for at least three of listed prompts, and publish it on your blog. Then click on the blue ‘Add Your Link’ button below to add your blog entry here. Voilà, you’re now part of the party!

A Few Simple Rules:

  1. Only 1 link per website.
  2. Do comment on at least 2 other blog posts in this linkup if you participate. Helping to spread the word on your social media is always appreciated, but not required.
  3. This linkup starts on the 1st of every month. There will be 5 different prompts. It will close at the end of each month before midnight. All timings listed are in Singapore time (+8 GMT).
  4. Pick at least 3 of the prompts to write about. 5 is best, of course! 😉
  5. We also ask that you share this main link to at least one of your social media outlets within the same month.
  6. Failure to follow these rules might get you blacklisted from future linkups. Let’s keep it fair for all 🙂

Prompts for the Month

  1. Dedicating
  2. A typical New Year’s prompt perhaps, yet one that can really help to set the tone for many of us. Are there new life, work or personal goals that you’ll be committing yourself to this year? Or perhaps you’d like to allocate more time to your loved ones, or a special project of yours. You could even dedicate your year in memory of a person. Whatever it is that you’re dedicating your year to, make it a meaningful one!

  3. Establishing
  4. Will you be establishing new routines for yourself, your family, or something else this year? What will you be doing this for, and how will it benefit you or someone else? Or perhaps you’ll be establishing new boundaries, rules or even traditions.

  5. Breaking
  6. There are many things we can break, or that can break us. Perhaps we’d like to break a bad habit, or break up with a toxic friend or aimless relationship. Something in our homes could be breaking down, whether literally or metaphorically, and we can even break bread with an enemy or stranger.

  7. Strengthening
  8. Are there certain issues that wear on your resolve, and that you always give in to even though you know it’s not the right choice? Or perhaps you want to improve your fitness levels, gut health, listening skills, or discipline in another area. There’s always something that could be strengthened, I say!

  9. Allowing
  10. Perhaps you’d like to allow yourself more time to complete certain chores, or maybe allow yourself to splurge on that nice perfume you’ve been eyeing for a while. Perhaps you want to allow love into your life, or to forgive the unforgivable. Maybe even allow yourself a treat, a rebellion of sorts, or letting your kids enjoy a little something this month!

You can find the previous linkups on this page, if you needed reference or wanted to read them.
