May 2019 Linkup Party for People with Chronic Illnesses

May 2019 Linkup Party for People with Chronic Illnesses | A Chronic Voice

I don’t think you’re supposed to say “it still feels like New Year’s” come May, but it does for me. I’m sure a lot of it has to do with the bad start and stasis up until now. Like the marathon runner who’s assigned the lane that feels the farthest, I’m still running hard, whilst trying to pace my speed so that I don’t wear myself out. How are you feeling and what are your plans, now that April is over and spring has sprung? I and many others in the chronic illness community would love to hear from you, that’s for sure.

What It’s All About

It is a monthly get together for anyone with chronic illnesses. An opportunity to share, to listen, and to learn from one another. I also think it’s a great way to provide insight into life with chronic pain, from many different points of view. All you have to do is write a short excerpt for at least three of listed prompts, and publish it on your blog. Then click on the blue ‘Add Your Link’ button below to add your blog entry here. Voilà, you’re now part of the party!

A Few Simple Rules:

  1. Only 1 link per website.
  2. Do comment on at least 2 other blog posts in this linkup if you participate. Helping to spread the word on your social media is always appreciated, but not required.
  3. This linkup starts on the 1st of every month. There will be 5 different prompts. It will close at the end of each month before midnight. All timings listed are in Singapore time (+8 GMT).
  4. Pick at least 3 of the prompts to write about. 5 is best, of course! 😉
  5. We also ask that you share this main link to at least one of your social media outlets within the same month.
  6. Failure to follow these rules might get you blacklisted from future linkups. Let’s keep it fair for all 🙂

Prompts for the Month

  1. REGROUPING
  2. I had to Google regroup vs regather a few times to think about what I really meant, and I think regroup fits better for this month’s purpose. Are you like me, trying to regroup after a few small or big hits from life? You’re definitely not alone. This word sounds very much like one that involves strategy to me. It could be related to business, pain management, self-care, future, etc plans.

  3. INVESTIGATING
  4. I think that many of us who live with chronic illnesses often feel like private investigators or scientists. We’re investigating the latest biologic drugs on the market, observing the side effects of yet another new medication, or pouring over our blood test results for some clues. We experiment with treatments, supplements, machines, or anything that might bring pain relief. We’re checking out a potential specialist or surgeon, and who knows what else! Of course, there are many other interesting things in life to investigate as well, which I’ll leave to your imagination 🙂

  5. BOOSTING
  6. The obvious one would be to give your physical or mental health a boost, often through nutrition, exercise, sleep or social activities. You could also give your blog or SEO a boost. Or even an old car or machine. What do you want to include in your self-care routine this month, that will motivate you, lift your spirits and turbo charge your energy levels?

  7. SETTING
  8. This one’s a super generic one, so go wild 😉 It’s exciting how much stuff you can set. You could set boundaries, set up a tent in the great outdoors, set up a new TV or wheelchair, set a new routine, even set your makeup. You get my point.

  9. REVIVING
  10. This prompt often sounds like a matter of life or death. That, or it’s used in ads for face creams and meditation retreats. I suppose you could also refer to them in that manner. What else can you do to spark life back into a tired soul? You could also revive old habits (good ones hopefully!), a previous romance, a project that’s been on hold since forever, or some dying plants…that still have some hope left in them.

You can find the previous linkups on this page, if you needed reference or wanted to read them. Good luck and have fun!
