It’s time to stop struggling against the rapid flow of 2019, since we’re already swept right into August. Is this what they meant when they say that life speeds by the older you get? (Even though I spent most of this year brain fogged and homebound so far?!) It’s National Day in Singapore this month, so I thought I’d dedicate the linkup colours to those of the flag! Right, I’m all ears and eager to hear what the rest of you will be up to in August. Take a look at the writing prompts below, spin them any way you like, and I promise to read it. Have fun!

What It’s All About

It is a monthly get together for anyone with chronic illnesses. An opportunity to share, to listen, and to learn from one another. I also think it’s a great way to provide insight into life with chronic pain, from many different points of view. All you have to do is write a short excerpt for at least three of the listed prompts, and publish it on your blog. Then click on the blue ‘Add Link’ button below to add your blog entry here. Voilà, you’re now part of the party!

A Few Simple Rules:

  1. Only 1 link per website.
  2. Do comment on at least 2 other blog posts in this linkup if you participate. Helping to spread the word on your social media is always appreciated, but not required.
  3. This linkup starts on the 1st of every month. There will be 5 different prompts. It will close at the end of each month before midnight. All timings listed are in Singapore time (+8 GMT).
  4. Pick at least 3 of the prompts to write about. 5 is best, of course! 😉
  5. We also ask that you share this main link to at least one of your social media outlets within the same month.
  6. Failure to follow these rules might get you blacklisted from future linkups. Let’s keep it fair for all 🙂

Prompts for the Month

  1. Capturing
  2. Life is a series of captures and imprinted memories. You could use tools like photographs and videos to solidify them, or they could own a special corner in your heart. You can also capture your thoughts, emotions and life, and express them through art and creativity (some pictures would be nice!). Or, being the spoonies as we are, perhaps your doctor needs to capture the insides of your body with an x-ray or some other medical test.

  3. Financing
  4. Tough word for many of us, I think. Doctors and medications cost money. Unconventional drugs cost even more. Apart from health related costs, you could also be saving up, or making a downpayment for something. You might be supporting or running a charity, or even be financing a person for whatever reason!

  5. Controlling
  6. A powerful word, I’ll give you that. Often we seek control, only to find that it’s illusionary. Life has plans of its own. Yet there are certain things that are within our control too, such as our diet, sleep and self-care routines. You could also find a person to be controlling in nature, try to keep yourself from falling apart, or attempt to contain a crisis.

  7. Exchanging
  8. Exchanges can be pretty generic, or hazy. Terms are usually set, and not always at a fair bargain. But you could also be swapping out some old routines or habits for better ones. You might be going to the store to exchange an item. Or maybe you’re an exchange student, or on some sort of exchange programme. You could also be exchanging contact and making new connections with people. Many of us often wish we could trade our lives or symptoms for something better, too.

  9. Motivating
  10. It can be hard to keep yourself motivated when living with chronic pain and/or fatigue. Depression often comes as part of the package too, making it even tougher. Whether they’re exercise, work, parenting or personal goals, it’s easy to let them slide and fade away as pain consumes us, and becomes a priority. What keeps you motivated? Or what is the current frame of your mind in relation to this? No judgement here x
