In this issue: Those with chronic illnesses might dread instead of look forward to the holiday season, and three self-care infographics to help cope. Sickness does not have a ‘look’, and other pet peeves of those who live with invisible illnesses. You may be tired of hearing about the pain of others, but they are definitely more tired of living with the pain itself. #PatientsAreNotFakingIt – believe us when we say that we’re in pain. As chronic illness patients, we get few answers from medical textbooks, and our hope dwindles with every failed treatment. Heightened awareness and lower tolerance of pain when it becomes chronic. Finding ways to enjoy life and dance despite the constant downpour. Disabilities have many different faces, and you can never really tell how much sacrifice a person is making to get through their day. Sometimes you will just be in terrible pain with no relief, but remember that your life is worth living. Accepting that pain will always inhabit a portion of my body, but that happiness can co-exist despite.
