In This Issue:

  1. Chronic fatigue is emotionally tough; when you want to do so much, yet you just can’t and feel defeated.
  2. Whilst some students pretend to be sick to get the day off school, many young adults with chronic illness fake being well and try to act their age when in fact, their bodies feel much older.
  3. When pain becomes chronic and unyielding, it can be dangerous to not treat it.
  4. The COVID-19 virus will likely prove deadly for people with autoimmune disorders and chronic illnesses, yet many of them cannot take the vaccine for reasons that are no fault of theirs.
  5. When fibromyalgia forces you to leave your career, causing great internal turmoil, as you can’t keep up anymore.
  6. When a few mean words is the last straw on the camel’s back that triggers a panic attack.
  7. Whether it’s for errands, appointments or pleasure, a chronically ill body keeps a debt score and pays back in chronic pain and/or chronic fatigue.
  8. The r/IllnessFakers (r/IF) subreddit is one of the most active chronic illness fakery message boards with more than 27,000 members and comprehensive rules that ‘hunt’ down chronic illness ‘influencers’.
  9. The worst thing to do when going through a pain flare is to react emotionally, which increases adrenaline and thus, symptoms.
  10. Being anti-medication yet reaching a stage where you can’t even walk, and realising you need to consider medical treatment options.
