Is Seeking Help for Your Mental Health Worth It?

Is Seeking Help for Mental Health Worth the Fuss? | www.achronicvoice.com

Has the thought of seeing a psychologist or psychiatrist for your mental health ever crossed your mind? You might have mused but hesitated over the idea. Either because you didn’t think that there were real benefits, or wondered what society would label you as. If so, then I wrote this article especially with you in […]

My Classic Recipe for Useless Stress

My Classic Recipe for Useless Stress

April 3, 2016August 14, 2022 by Sheryl Chan

How do You ‘Save’ Time? I am often glued to the screen of my mobile phone while aboard public transport or walking along the streets, in an attempt to ‘save some time’ by ‘getting minor tasks out of the way’. It is a little ironic to be doing so especially when I am having a […]

Appearances – the First Layer of Defense

Appearances - The First Layer of Defense | A Chronic Voice

I Care a Lot about the Way I Look Whilst I don’t spend hours applying makeup in front of the mirror, I do ensure that I look somewhat presentable before stepping out of the house. This can be a struggle on bad days, but still I try. Why? I have spent a lot of time […]

Chronic Stress, the Silent Assassin

A Chronic Voice: Chronic Stress, the Silent Assassin

December 12, 2015August 14, 2022 by Sheryl Chan

Stress. It is an oft-forgotten factor in the equation to good health. Sometimes the tolerance for it is even glorified. More emphasis is placed on diet, exercise and sleep, with stress relief as a byproduct or afterthought. Why? Is it because these factors are more tangible and easily measured or monitored, while stress is a […]

Hello & Welcome

A Chronic Voice by Sheryl Chan - Profile Headshot

My name is Sheryl, and I look like your average human being. You’d probably not give a second glance should our paths cross on the street.

But my body is in a bit of a mess. I have had a mini stroke at 14, multiple blood clots in the lungs and legs, a faulty heart rhythm, a gore-tex band for a heart valve, seizures, scars all over my body from various surgeries, and have never had a break from Lupus in over a decade, just to name a few.

By sharing my experiences here, I hope to reach out to those who are suffering to let them know that it is okay to feel depressed, sad or frustrated. Let us simply get through it together one day at a time, and if need be, one second at a time - I can, I can, I can. That’s 3 seconds down.
