In this issue: World Arthritis Day ‘COVID-19 Time Capsule’ with A Chronic Voice from Singapore, a project presented by Creaky Joints and the Canadian Arthritis Patience Alliance. Accepting chronic pain and working with our bodies as a person with chronic illness, so as to become more attuned to it in order to navigate our functionality. Plan out of home ‘me-dates’, but suss out the venue before proceeding so you can make a quick exit if need be. Self-care has become a full-time job, living with Rheumatoid Arthritis, but necessary for some quality of life. Three true things: This will pass; It will not pass as quickly as you want it to and you will believe it will never end; this will pass. Research of over 300 studies have shown positive benefits of expressive writing on pain management, chronic fatigue, mood improvement and more. It can often lead to self-doubt and feels like we’re yelling into a void with invisible illness, with some even implicating that we’re faking it. I don’t have social media notifications turned on on my phone, and tend to check in all at once at night, along with scheduling chronic illness related blog posts via Buffer. Chronic illness and chronic pain changes you permanently, and how we thus survive and live in this world. The impacts of October Slide with the fading of sunlight, mood and physical degradation, and Raynaud’s Syndrome flares.
