October 2019 Linkup Party for People with Chronic Illnesses

October 2019 Linkup Party for People with Chronic Illnesses | A Chronic Voice

Hello autumn/spring! I’m quite envious of those of you who get to experience this nice transition period, whilst it’s ever hot and humid in Singapore. We’re entering the final quarter of the year, so I’m sure 2019 has some kind of sketchy blueprint to how it’s looking from an over all perspective by now. But – we still have a couple months left, either to hope for the best, or to set things right. Let’s take a look at the October Linkup, and some possible ways we can express and share about our lives with chronic illness with the rest of the community!

What It’s All About

It is a monthly get together for anyone with chronic illnesses. An opportunity to share, to listen, and to learn from one another. I also think it’s a great way to provide insight into life with chronic pain, from many different points of view. All you have to do is write a short excerpt for at least three of the listed prompts, and publish it on your blog. Then click on the blue ‘Add Link’ button below to add your blog entry here. Voilà, you’re now part of the party!

A Few Simple Rules:

  1. Only 1 link per website.
  2. Do comment on at least 2 other blog posts in this linkup if you participate. Helping to spread the word on your social media is always appreciated, but not required.
  3. This linkup starts on the 1st of every month. There will be 5 different prompts. It will close at the end of each month before midnight. All timings listed are in Singapore time (+8 GMT).
  4. Pick at least 3 of the prompts to write about. 5 is best, of course! 😉
  5. We also ask that you share this main link to at least one of your social media outlets within the same month.
  6. Failure to follow these rules might get you blacklisted from future linkups. Let’s keep it fair for all 🙂

Prompts for the Month

  1. WAITING
  2. Life with chronic illness consists of a lot of waiting around – at the hospital, to heal, for pending approvals, etc. You could also be waiting for a person, an event, some news, feedback, a job confirmation, a sign, or even for the autumn leaves to fall or spring flowers to bloom!

  3. PARTING
  4. You could be parting with a loved one or a pet whether by choice or not. Perhaps parting with summer/winter leaves you feeling happy or sad. You could also be leaving your country, firing a bad doctor, parting from certain bad habits, or objects of sentimental value.

  5. PERSEVERING
  6. It can be difficult to persevere and achieve your goals when you live in pain all the time. Perhaps you are persevering with a certain treatment even though the symptoms are shady, or end results unknown. You could also be persevering with your studies, acquisition of a new skill, coping with a tough period or horrendous pain.

  7. AFFIRMING
  8. Self-affirmations can be powerful mental and emotional tools for personal motivation and inspiration. Do you have a favourite one, or a certain routine? You could also be affirming certain beliefs or providing support to yourself, your loved ones, or even strangers.

  9. LOVING
  10. The world needs more love, I think we can all agree on that at least?! Maybe you need to fill your own cup up this month. Or maybe you want to show your friends and family more love, and vice versa. How you show it is also another question in itself! There are also various levels of love. Perhaps you are craving for affection, intimacy, or purely platonic vibes.
