It’s time for the August writing prompts, so I hope you have your virtual pens ready! 🙂 If you recall, I shared the concept and awareness in the June linkup, that I needed to ‘make time’ for the things that mattered to me.
Ironically, July flew by, full of errands and little tasks that stole away from my days… Time flies by in bits and pieces, not quite in well-defined, muscular chunks.
So for August, I can’t just sit and hope that my calendar will be more in line with how I envision it to be. I need to sit down and plan for it, and then make it happen. I would like for it to involve more self-care in all aspects of the word, more content production, and also not neglect paid work along the way.
A thin balance, but as someone with chronic illnesses that are never going away, I will simply need to learn how to manage my time with more discipline 🙂
Anyway, it’s time for you to share about you using these five August writing prompts! Why is that important? I believe that every patient’s voice matters, and that also comes in the form of sharing about your every day lives. The parts that are worn, breathed and lived in. And not ripped apart into statistical shreds, although that serves a purpose, too.
I look forward to viewing the world through your lens via the August writing prompts below. Have a look and share away!

What The August Writing Prompts are About & How to Participate
The linkups are a monthly get together for anyone with a chronic illness, mental disorder or disability. An opportunity to share, to listen, and to learn from one another through shared writing prompts. I also think it’s a great way to provide insight into life with chronic pain, from many different points of view.
All you have to do is write using at least three of the writing prompts listed below, and publish it on your blog, or to a free writing platform like Medium. Then click on the blue ‘Add Link’ button to add your blog post to this page. Voilà, you’re now part of the linkup party!

Have you been wandering through life, a little aimless because of chronic pain, fatigue and illness? Or perhaps you’re wandering through a maze of endless misdiagnoses, inconcrete diagnoses, or a confusing healthcare system.
You could also be wandering through the woods or nature in solitude or with loved ones, soaking in the the goodness. Perhaps shuffling through the grocery or shopping aisles, the streets, little lanes or public transport system. Or even taking a stroll down memory lane.
Are you trying to catch your breath from all the doctor appointments, work, tasks on your todo list, or maybe the constant changes from COVID-19? You could also be out in nature catching fish or something else.
Maybe you’ve caught a cold, an infection, or something nasty 🙁 On the upside, you could also be catching someone when they fall and vice versa. Or catching a train, catching up on something you had meant to do or learn, and more.
Do you compartmentalise feelings, people, work, life or something else? I know I do! Is it a strength, weakness or both? You could also be compartmentalising your medications or underwear, decluttering your room, organising your kitchen and shelves, and more.
Are you taking time to regenerate and spending time on sleep and self-care every day? You could be regenerating your health in many ways, from physical to mental, spiritual, emotional and more.
You could be doing so through your diet, nutrition, exercise, meditation or a combination of a few things. Or maybe you love playing RPGs, and find some parallel in your character as it regenerates their HPs!
Have you been affected by the pandemic, and long to visit your loved ones but can’t? Or perhaps you’ve managed to sneak in a socially distanced, cautious visit.
Do you miss visiting the mall, shops, cafés or some place? Or perhaps you’ve been visiting a safe space every day, your favourite spot in nature or on your walk, or somewhere else.
You could also be visiting the doctor (again, I know right?!), a new complementary therapy practitioner or health facility. Or maybe even visiting animals waiting to be adopted, and more.
I hope that these August writing prompts stimulate your creative brain juices. Can’t wait to read what you have to share!
